London Models: Models and Red Lipstick

Models and Red Lipstick

Red lipstick is universal. It is classic, glamorous and easy to pull off. Saying that, it is crucial to wear it with confidence and a little bit of knowledge about how to apply it and which to choose. Some women think that they can’t wear red for one reason or another. Perhaps they don’t want to stand out, don’t appreciate the attention, or don’t have the confidence. This article has some tips for application and how to wear it.

The main thing about wearing red lipstick is finding the right shade for your skin tone and not going overboard with the rest of your makeup. First apply a concealer, particularly around the borders of your mouth as this will help to prevent the red lipstick from smudging. Match the shade of red you choose to your skin tone. Darker skin tones look great when wearing brown based reds, medium skin tones would wear true red while lighter skin tones look great in lipsticks with red-orange tones.
Line your lips with a red liner of a slightly darker shade than your lipstick. Do it on the inside of your lip or your mouth will look big! This is only to fill in the edge with the shape and add a bit of a progression from the red to your skin. For your lips to look full, you can also apply lip pencil with the same shade on the ends of your mouth.

Pick your finish for your lipstick, choosing either glossy or matte. The latter goes with the lighter shades of red. It lasts longer and gives an awesome pout. The glossy finish goes really well with darker shades of red; it shimmers and gives a bold look – perfect for London Models photoshoots. When you apply the first layer of lipstick you can remove the excess by pressing a handkerchief between your lips. This will help stop you getting the lipstick on your teeth, too. Always go for quality brands. They stay on better, won’t smudge as easily, and don’t need reapplication every hour. And the biggest secret of all is to wear a red lipstick with a confidence. The colour red itself speaks volumes about a person. Make sure your attitude and self-confidence say the same and if you’re interested in finding out more about modelling and beauty, talk to London Models if you have what it takes to be a model!
